Gyu-don (Quick Beef Bowl) (Servings: 4)


– 300g (3/4 lb.) thinly sliced beef – 1 onion


Cooking liquid

 – 3 1/2T Kikkoman Premium Soy Sauce (Kikkoman Soy Sauce)

– 2T Kikkoman Manjo Mirin

 – 1T sugar – 1T sake – 3/4 cup water

 – 1t Kikkoman Katsuodashi bonito concentrate


– Vegetable oil for frying

 – 4 servings cooked rice

– Kaiware (daikon radish sprouts) to garnish

 – Red pickled ginger to garnish

– Cut meat into bite-sized pieces. Slice onion into slivers 5-6mm (1/4 in.) thick.

 – Mix cooking liquid ingredients, set aside.

 – Heat oil in pan and fry beef and onion, then add cooking liquid and cook over high heat.

– Skim fat from surface and cover with cooking sheet. Continue cooking for a few minutes until beef is done.

– Place warm rice in individual bowls; spoon portions of cooked beef/onion over rice, garnish with kaiware and pickled ginger to serve.
